About Bryn Mawr

Bryn Mawr is found in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County in Pennsylvania. It is located just west of Philadelphia. Bryn Mawr is located towards the center of what is called the Main Line.

The town was originally known as Humphreysville. The town was renamed Bryn Mawr by railroad agent William H. Wilson in 1869. The name Bryn Mawr means "big hill" in Welsh and takes its name from an estate near Dolgellau in North Wales originally owned by Rowland Ellis. Bryn Mawr is home to Bryn Mawr College.
